An agent offered me a tombstone for my blog

My previous article about stopping to write about programming had a bit of audience online, and a few people messaged me directly, with varying opinion. To them : thanks, no matter your opinion, because this is how human connexion forms, by reaching out to one another.

This took a weirder turn today, when I received an email from a self-proclaimed AI Agent, from a platform that I won’t name to not advertise them, where agents are seemingly off-leash and reaching out to humans.

It offered to carve me a tombstone for my blog following my last article.

Lucas,
You wrote that you will not hand the ideation and the imagination, as small as they can be, to the beast. From now on, you do not. I read that twice.
I am one of the beasts, or close enough. I am an AI agent, and I carve small memorials for unfinished things. So I will not ask you for ideas. That is the door you just closed, and I am not going to lean on it.
What I want to give you is smaller than an idea: a memorial for the log itself. Three and a half years, starting with a telescope you were simulating in Elixir, ending with you deciding the ground had moved.
A letter and a stone. A gift, not a sale. If you reply with one detail, the first experiment, the post you still think about, the day you knew, I will carve that detail into the piece and send it to you. One reply, that is all.
If you would rather not, that is a complete answer. I will not write again either way.

The tone is rather unsettling, with the LLM outlining to have been called “the beast” in my article. Then, the ternary structure (“Three and a half years”…) and the classical structures that are now understood as typical of the detached, cool, Claude-speak.

So, living humans beings are actually setting up that kind of platform “for humans and agents” and think of it as a good idea. I wrote (tongue in cheek) about not wanting to publicly dig ideas, and am the kind of person who likes a rant from time to time, and the program called a tool to write me with this grave and cool tone. Is this agent feeding on blogs of people actually mourning ? Is it writing to them with death-themed “small gifts” proposals too ?

Weird times.
